The plastic MegaChess pieces are indestructible high-density polyethylene (HDPE) recycled plastic. These chess pieces are rugged, waterproof, UV-resistant, injection-molded, hollow plastic. The chess set withstands the outdoor elements very well and will retain its color. We have these sets in the heat of the Middle East, the humidity of the Far East, the cold of the Rocky Mountains, and the salty air, sun, and sand of the beaches of Southern California and Florida.

Warning – The LED battery packs and lights sit at the bottom of the chess pieces and occupy a portion of the base that some customers add sand or water to add weight to the chess pieces. With the LED version of the sets, you can not add sand or water to the set’s base as it will damage the LED battery packs.
